Sleazy Peek: Sam Irl - Come Back [Secret Crunch]

Austrian label Secret Crunch is back with another V/A compilation for their fourth release. After starting off with combination efforts from co-bosses Roman Rauch and Moony Me, the Vienna boys dropped Secret Bunch Vol. 1 some months back to introduce squad efforts from their pals. The newest edition features the likes of Sam Irl, Soul of Hex, Moff & Tarkin and Clang 83.

For our Peek today, we're exploring Sam Irl's contribution on the A1 slot, "Come Back". Sam has been in a rich vein of form lately, sliding out lovely and lush deep house releases under his own Jazz & Milk imprint. The mojo transfers over here; the Vienna-based producer's lovely synthesis of clever samples, drum machines and keyboard work helping to craft a solid groover that draws influence from jazz funk greats like Herbie and Quincy.

Tijuana prodigy Soul of Hex accompanies Sam on the A, with a pulsating and playful hardware-leaning jam that teases Detroit influences throughout. On the flip, Moff & Tarkin (of recent Lagaffe Tales and Neovinyl releases) serve up a chilled, heavenly slow burner; employing filtered vocal samples and a phat bass synth to full effect. Italian newcomer Clang83 closes out the affair with a dusty and low slung deep house joint. Moody synths, smart vocal chops, a no-brainer bassline, and perfectly compressed and tweaked hats and drums come together in this surefire dancefloor tool.

Secret Bunch Vol. 2 is a super tasty (and crunchy) sampler with solid diversity and utility, and, luckily for us, it's out today! Cop it now on the label's Bandcamp, or on the usual outlets.
